Merry Christmas, everyone! I can't believe Christmas is only a few short days away; it feels like I was just wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving! I know the past few weeks have been filled with gifts guides, recipes, and holiday outfit ideas here on Basically Bronwyn, so I thought it would be fun to do a little something different to wrap up my Christmas content. I was tagged by blogger babe/friend Alex from Alex Marie Jordan to participate in the Blogger Winter Tag for 2017. Below are 15 holiday + winter related questions that I'll be answering, as well as tagging a few of my favorite gals to do the same! Be sure to check out their blogs and Instagram pages; you'll love their content :)
Alright, let's get to it!
Q: What's your favorite holiday tradition?
I don't think I can pick just one favorite tradition; I have so many! What's fun about being an adult and married is that on top of having traditions that I grew up with (and that Justin grew up with), we've started to create our own traditions that we hope to continue with our own kids.
If I HAVE to pick, my favorite holiday tradition growing up is Christmas Eve spent at my Nana and Papa's house. It was always 100 degrees (somehow my nana would still be freezing), super loud and chaotic, good food, singing Christmas carols while my nana or my mom would play the piano; I never left unhappy :)
As for the past few years, Justin and I have started to create our own traditions together! I love going to pick out our Christmas tree; it's usually Justin suggesting the first tree we see, but me dragging him up and down the isles making sure we find the best one...he loves it, haha. With that being said, this year he really did suggest the first tree he saw, and we ended up getting it! It's perfect :) I also enjoy decorating our house! It's always makes our home feel extra happy and cozy!
Q: What are your go-to winter lip products?
Anyone who knows me well is aware that I've been using Vaseline on my lips for YEARS- I'm talking since middle school, haha. It's hydrating and gives a glossy finish, but isn't sticky which I love. I just buy the small container from Walgreens or CVS and keep it in my purse all the time!
For added color, I've been loving this Hourglass Lip Crayon in the color "Peacemaker." It's a beautiful rose, nude color and has great pigmentation. For an even more natural color, I've also been using this NYX liner all over my lips. I top both off with my Vaseline!
Q: What is your go-to winter fashion trend?
I love a cozy turtleneck/mockneck sweater for the winter season like this one from a couple of posts ago. I have it in two colors (oatmeal and grey), and I'm typically in this sweater at least 3 days a week. It doesn't itch and it's long enough to wear with leggings! I'm also a fan of this mock neck tunic- SO soft and comfortable! It comes in 4 colors (I have it in taupe) and is less than $50!
I keep things pretty simple for winter with lots of warm, cozy layers! Alongside a comfy sweater, I typically stick with a good pair of jeans and boots. I've recently fallen in love with these studded chelsea ankle boots (see below) and these moto boots!
Q: What is your all-time favorite holiday movie?
Justin and I love watching White Christmas together every year. Can't beat the classics :)
Q: Do you prefer to travel or stay home for the holidays?
Since moving to Lexington, we do have to travel. Both of our families live in Northwest Indiana and the Chicago area, so that's where we spend the holidays. We've been tossing around the idea of spending Thanksgiving with our families next year, but then taking a trip for Christmas :)
Q: What is your favorite winter skin must have?
I love this multi-vital facial oil! My skin gets very dry during winter, and it does a great job at keeping it hydrated. I just use a couple of drops and massage it into my skin!
Q: What is your favorite winter activity?
This probably isn't considered an "activity" because it's not very "active," but I love curling up on the couch with my favorite throw blanket, drinking a cup of hot chocolate, and wearing my coziest lounge wear. These joggers are the best and this cardigan is my go-to! I love the winter from INSIDE my warm house! :)
Q: What is your favorite winter hair care product?
Q: What is your favorite must-have winter beauty product?
A good self-tanner! Being Queen of the Pales isn't easy; self-tanner is a must for me come winter time! This one by ST TROPEZ has been my go-to for almost a year now. I apply it about once a week with an application mitt, and BAM....not a ghost anymore!
Q: What is your favorite holiday tune?
Hmm, there are so many good ones. If I'm being honest, I catch myself singing "I'll Be Home For Christmas" quite a bit so that's probably my favorite :)
Q: Do you love or hate the snow?
I love the snow, particularly when I can enjoy it from the inside of my house. It can be a pain to drive in it, but I do love watching a pretty snowfall :)
Q: What is one item on your wish list this year?
Q: What is your favorite winter scent? (candles, perfume, etc.)
I have a candle obsession, and the holiday season only makes it worse! I purchased this candle in the scent "Sugared Birch" and "Balsam & Spice" about a month ago, and I'm obsessed! They both smell like Christmas in a jar. If you love the smell of fresh Christmas trees with a hint of spice, these won't disappoint.
As for my go-to winter perfume, I typically just stick with the one a wear and love year-round, which is the Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet. It's SO good!
Q: What is your favorite holiday treat?
Anything with chocolate! :) These easy layer bars that I shared on here a few weeks ago are always at the top of my favorites list!
Q: Do you finish your holiday shopping before December or are you a last minute shopper?
I can usually snag a few gifts during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales, but I'm guilty of last minute shopping as well.
Alright gang, that's all for the questions! I hope you enjoyed that and I just want give a huge THANK YOU for all of the support this holiday season. Don't forget to check out these gals below and subscribe to their blogs/Instagram while you're there!
