New York Fashion Week 2018

I’m super excited to be sharing my New York Fashion Week recap post with you all. It’s going to a be a long one, but I wanted a post with everything from where I stayed in NYC and the restaurants I went to, and the multiple outfits I wore each day to be all in once place for your reference!

Going to New York Fashion Week has been on my bucket list pretty much before I even started my blog; the fact that I was able to go is such a blessing and it’s a trip I’ll never forget. As soon as the opportunity came along, I took full advantage and ran with it.

Not only was I lucky enough to have the NYFW experience, but the ladies who I got to share it with made the whole thing even more amazing. These babes are drenched in joy, positivity, love, and enthusiasm- and will run out in traffic and the rain to make sure you “got the shot”…..literally :)

Meet my NYFW girl gang, Allison from West of Felicity and Shelby from Pretty In The Pines! I encourage you to follow their blogs + Instagram accounts! You won’t regret it :)

I am so happy that we were able to partner with Park South Hotel NYC during NYFW because we had the BEST stay!

It’s located in the NoMad neighborhood of Midtown Manhattan and is close to just about everything we needed. Park South has great dining options with Covina Restaurant & Bar and Covina Coffee Bar nestled inside.

They also have a great rooftop bar - Roof - with amazing views, but unfortunately it was closed due to the non-stop rain that crashed our entire stay while in NYC. We did get a sneak peak even though it wasn’t open, and I can promise you it’s a great spot to grab a drink outside.

I don’t know about you guys, but cleanliness at a hotel is probably the MOST important thing to me. I am happy to report that Park South was without a doubt one of the cleanest places I’ve stayed! Everything from the lobby area and restaurant, to most importantly the bed + bathrooms themselves are Bronwyn approved!

The staff was always incredibly friendly and helpful our entire stay. Even when we were bugging them to take our roomie photos :)

I highly recommend staying at Park South NYC if you’re ever visiting, and I would absolutely love to stay there again myself!

I opted for a simple jeans + blouse + sneaker combo for my travel look. These jeans are the most recent to my denim collection, and they’re definitely worth the splurge. This shirt? Same story. The comfort level is 100 and it can be snagged for less than $20.

These sneakers were a bit controversial at the Butler house because of their “flash,” but I decided to stick with my gut and break them out for New York. After all, if I can’t wear them to fashion week, where can I wear these too?! :)

After a quick and easy flight from Lexington to N.Y.C, I made my way to the hotel to inhale lunch and make an outfit change for our very first set of shows for the night. Talk about hitting the ground running!

Seeing as how I’ve never been to fashion week before, I literally had no idea what to expect. Upon arriving to Pier 59 Studios, I was very quick to realize that these shows are just like you would imagine them to be…only better. The hype, chaos, all of the people, the hustle, the flashing lights from photographers, the ENERGY; it’s all so much fun to take in and experience.

I saw various collections from designers at the Oxford Shows including Meticulously Eccentric, Megan Cannings, and Daykeyla just to name a few. Each of them can be seen in my recap video below!

I was completely clueless about what I should be wearing to each show, if I’m being totally honest. I wanted to have fun with each outfit and be a little more “flashy and funky” for NYFW, while still sticking to my own style.

I went with a faux leather skirt from E. Leigh’s Boutique and paired it with this fun striped top; I got so many compliments on this look! I didn’t want to destroy my feet on day one, so I went with my trusty ankle boots. They’re so comfortable and I’ve had them for awhile, so I knew they were already broken in.

After the Oxford Shows, it was back to the hotel for outfit change #2 to head to the next show followed by dinner out with friends.

We found ourselves back at Pier59 Studios for the Academy of Art University show; all of the pieces were so unique and intricate. Clips from this show can be seen in my VLOG below.

I love this mauve slip dress I found and thought it would be perfect with my leather jacket and the “funky” sneakers. I can’t find the dress online, so I linked a few similar options below.

It was up and at ‘em on day #2 with Glam Squad coming to our hotel room to do our hair; it sounded fun in theory, but waking up early was a real bummer that morning after being out until 2AM, haha.

Our very first show of the day was the Nonie SS19 Collection runway show at Industria; this was probably my favorite show and designer that I saw during NYFW. Each piece in the collection was so chic and effortless! +

I wore this plaid dress with the cutest ruffle shoulder detail from Bevello; I’m obsessed with it and can’t wait to wear it again! It fits true to size and is perfect for fall. I styled with my leather jacket mainly because it was cold and rainy outside, but luckily it looked like it was on purpose :) Since I styled my hair a little differently than normal, I wanted to wear a fun pair of statement earrings to finish off the look.

After the show, we managed to get some shots in around the Greenwich Village area and stumbled upon The Bucher’s Daughter for a very late, very needed lunch before heading back to the hotel to get ready for the next show.

Our final show of day #2 was back at Industria for the Ruby Fang SS19 Collection runway show. Her dresses are stunning and have so much character and texture.

I wore this olive green, ruffle wrap dress from E. Leigh’s Boutique with these embroidered sneakers. I love a good dress+sneaker combo, and I think the shoes really complimented this fun dress!

Day #3 was by far the busiest, complete with multiple photo-shoots, meetings, collaborations. Once again, we started the day bright and early to get these shots in at the Brooklyn Bridge before it was swarmed with people. Even though the early wake-up called sucked, I think snagging these pictures was worth it. Plus, it was probably the only “touristy” place I was able to see while in NYC.

The skirt I originally ordered to go with this outfit was delivered as I was getting dropped off at the airport….literally. Luckily, Shelby had this gorgeous midi skirt and she was kind enough to let me borrow it for this shoot! I will go ahead and link the skirt I was going to wear below, as well as this one in the photo!

I loved pairing this glam skirt + graphic tee and sneaker combo together. This was probably one of my favorite looks of the trip.

Our next appointment of the day was spent at the most darling boutique, Alexia Maria. Talk about the dreamiest gowns and pieces you could imagine. Her designs are truly timeless, and it was SO fun being able to play dress up.

From mini dresses and ball gowns, to jumpsuits and jackets, each piece is classic and most are fitted with the most beautiful bow detailing you’ve ever seen!

Now I just need Justin to take me to a fancy event, so I can waltz around in one of these dresses :) In case you’re looking to turn heads at your next event, I’ve linked some of my favorite pieces from the Alexia Maria collection below.

Our final pit stop of the day was at Tartinery to experience their happy hour. Besides being completely adorable inside, they’re equipped with the prettiest crafted cocktails.

We turned our “quick trip” to Tartinery into a few hours of indulging in the delicious appetizers and talking about all the things while catching up with our friend Caroline from LCB STYLE. We topped off our time there with a variation of hot chocolates, lattes, and matchas because #EXHAUSTED. I’m so happy we capped off our last evening in NYC here.

We spent our last day squeezing in one last photo shoot followed by eating the fasted brunch you’ve ever seen, haha. I was literally still chewing my food while getting into our Uber, so we wouldn’t miss our flights.

Allison found the most Instagram worthy restaurant -Jams- and I’m dying to get back to New York just so I can finish my meal ;)

I’m so happy I was able to have this experience, and we’re already planning our next trip back to New York very soon! I hope you guys enjoyed this recap and if you have any great spots in NYC, leave me a comment below so I can try it out on my next visit!
