Wearing Your Summer Dresses Into Sweater Season

I’m trying to be better about re-wearing pieces in my closet that I love, which is something- I’ll admit- I’m terrible at doing. I’ve gotten in a bad habit of wearing dresses once, and somehow, they end up in the back of my closet. So instead of letting these super cute pieces get left behind for the year, I decided to reuse a look you’ve actually seen on the blog before by pairing it with this cozy knit sweater.

This dress, which looks like a skirt, was one of my favorite outfits from New York Fashion Week (you can see the dress by itself in my post here). I love the plaid print and the fit of it, but since it is sleeveless, it’s not really season appropriate by itself anymore.

Wearing an over-sized sweater, however, can make it look more like a fall and winter outfit. You could also pair it with a more fitted turtleneck or sweater under the dress, so you can see the fun sleeve detail, as well. This turtleneck would be great for layering! This dress is slightly fitted, so for one that’s not, I would suggest pairing a belt with the outfit to give your waist some shape.

I styled it with these ankle boots, but you could also wear over-the-knee boots with a shorter dress like this. On those extra chilly days heading our way, just add a pair of tights to the outfit for extra warmth :)

I hope you guys enjoyed this little tip, so you can continue to wear those summer dresses right into the cold season ahead.
